Following a successful application to the Arts Council in 2008, the Consortium are working to deliver a series of three one-day showcase and conference events exploring aspects of live literature. Each day will have a specific focus – creating, producing and marketing live literature – and involve a mix of speakers, seminars, panel discussions and opportunities to see work.
The events aim to:
• Raise the profile of live literature, encouraging more programmers to consider booking live literature work
• Consider the key issues affecting the production, creation and marketing of live literature through the
sharing of work as well as discussion
• Develop and foster new live literature work, providing a platform for a future life beyond the Lit Up events
• Encourage networking and sharing of skills and experience between programmers, marketers,
producers and artists
• Make explicit links between the three events to advance themes and performances to facilitate
a progressive development for attendees
The events will feature:
• The best new and existing work by live literature artists, with excerpts from a range of exciting
and diverse performances
• A number of informal and formal discussions and seminars around live literature
• Speakers from different areas of the live literature profession
Delegates may choose to attend one or more of the events, depending on their area of work and interest. The events will be looking to attract delegates from across the UK in the following sectors:
• Arts venue managers, programmers and marketing staff
• Consortia and agencies working in literature
• Producers, touring agents, agents
• Artists
• Arts/literature development officers
• Rural touring agencies
• Representatives from funding organisations

Producing Thursday 11 June 2009 Brewery Arts, Kendal
Creating Thursday 24 September 2009 Albany, Deptford
Marketing Tuesday 16th February 2010 Bristol Old Vic
